SUNY New Paltz Graphic Design Thesis Show

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of the in-person thesis show, I collaborated with a small group of students to design and develop a virtual thesis show website for the SUNY New Paltz Graphic Design BFA Class of 2020. What initially began a few years prior as an additional platform for documenting the projects completed by the seniors each year, the thesis project directory website had then become the main focus and platform for how the thesis show would be shared and accessed.

The enhanced focused on the website for showcasing projects had directed me to provide a solution for sharing and accessing the work remotely. I ended up creating flexible templates for case study pages to accommodate various project assets, such as GIFs and videos, within the virtual landscape. The custom-built website was completed by our volunteer team within a tight timeline of 5-6 weeks.

The Homepage served as an expansive landing page showcasing a primary image asset from each student project. On the about page, information about the reimagined thesis show can be found as well as a grid layout of some static and motion based assets shared to promote the show.

Student case studies were easily accessed through the site's landing page that led to individual pages for each case study. Starting with a header image and a project statement, projects links and additional image assets were submitted to students in ways we allowed them to design their projects to best fit the case study platform.
